據美國雅虎體育、ESPN等多家媒體指出，快艇與黃蜂達成交易意向，送出巴恩斯（Matt Barnes）和霍伊斯（Spencer Hawes）兩將，得到「吹氣哥」史蒂芬森（Lance Stephenson）。但根據聯盟的規定，這筆交易要到7月初才能最終完成。

24歲的史蒂芬森去年夏天和黃蜂簽下3年超過2700萬美元的合約，其中最後一年為球隊選項。但在去到夏洛特之後，他的狀態卻呈直線下滑，並一度失去主力位置。61場只有25場先發，平均只有8.2分4.5籃板3.2助攻。

快船隊過去幾年一直在尋求增強鋒線戰力，由於薪資上限，球隊只能通過交易來補強。快船隻能寄希望史蒂文森能恢復溜馬時的狀態，在溜馬最後1季平均13.8分7.2籃板4.6助攻，幫助球隊贏下56場季賽並打進東區決賽。但他拒絕了溜馬5年4400萬美元的報價，隨即與黃蜂簽約。

黃蜂希望霍伊斯能煥發新生，35歲的巴恩斯目前還剩1年價值350萬美元的合約，上賽季他為快艇先發74場，平均10.1分4.0個籃板。
